Little Nation Balance Bike

Review of the Little Nation Balance bike

In 2012, before launching of 2013’s model, The Little Nation was a prominent, flexible balance bike.

It weighs 6.7lbs, and has a durable frame designed so that it’s easily handled by an 18-month-old, and yet still challenging to a 5-year-old. Thus, the bike is able to grow along with the child’s riding skills and physical requirements.

The Little Nation balance bike is produced by an Australian company, which is famous for their innovative bike models. They firmly believe in the benefits of these bikes and often promote them on many Balance Bike competitions.

Top this day the LN balance bike remains a high-quality bike model, with great features. It still does a great job developing children’s coordination and balance abilities.

The Redesigned Seats

The Little Nation model’s seat is smaller and lighter than other balance bike models, so it offers better accommodation to kids who have smaller hips. It’s also padded with an enhanced comfort technology. Although smaller seats come with the bikes, Little Nation enables its buyers to purchase a larger seat, as well, meant for older kids.

Ergonomically Designed Hand Grips

The handgrips were reshaped to be more anatomically suited for children’s hands. The ridges are smaller and enable a better grip.

The handlebars have also undergone a transformation, to achieve a motor-cross appearance. The increased security for the rider is enabled by introducing some additional padding.

Foam Tires

This model normally comes with twelve-inch foam tires, which are made with  Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) polymer, thus being mostly puncture-proof. Little Nation calls them Ultralight 1-piece tires, since nothing has to be pieced together. Little Nation prefers foam tires to pneumaticas for being so low-maintenance. Some bigger complaints, though, address their inability to be shock-absorbent as pneumatic tires are. Ultimately, they don’t seem to behave so good on non-paved terrains, unlike their pneumatic  equivalents. They aren’t flexible enough. However, customers have the option of buying a separate pair of pneumatic tires and place them on their Little Nation.

In order to get a smooth wheel rotation, Little Nation balance bikes opt for sealed cartridge bearings, to prevent grit and moisture from getting into it. That way it requires less maintaining, with faster and smoother wheel rotation guaranteed.

The benefit of the Little Nation is that it can accommodate several different-sized riders.

Seat – As we mentioned before, Little Nation offers the option to replace the default seat with a larger one. On top of that, its height  can also be modified among the range of 11-16in. In case that height is still not satisfactory, there’s a possibility of purchasing even more extendable seats.

Tires – The default tires to Little Nation model are foam/molded tires. However, since not everyone is delighted with their performance, Little Nation offers the option for replacing them with air tires, which have to be bought separately.

Handgrips – The default grips on this model are the new, previously mentioned Mini handgrips. In case they turn out to be too small, separately sold additional grips come in a wide range of sizes and colors.

Add-On Accessories

Brakes and footrests  – Another upside to choosing this model is availability of new and exceptional add-on accessories, which can rarely be found among wooden balance bikes. Brakes and footrests are obtainable to customers who want those features on their bikes, but they don’t normally come with the bikes, and many consumers like it that way. Not having footrests leaves more running space for children, allowing them to practice coordination and balance more easily, without brakes getting in their way.

Ski Attachment – One more great accessory is the ski attachment, which consumers can get separately. It’s attached right under the wheel, allowing children to continue improving their coordination and balance skills even during winter.

Unlike most of its rivals on the market, especially the wooden balance bicycles, Little Nation offers the chance to improve skills even beyond steering and balancing. Its steel  frame makes it suitable for some fun bike tricks. Also, it can be used even during winter, provided that the ski attachments are included.

Better ergonomic qualities guarantee an improved riding experience, comparing to Little Nation’s predecessors. Those exact reasons make it possible for even toddlers to use it (18 months or older).

From the options to alter the bike for winter or summer seasons, the wide range of additional accessories, to the ability to modify the bike to suit the rider’s physical requirements, enough can’t be said about this model’s versatility. There’s no doubt it’s a great bike to have, as it can be passed on to a couple of kids in the family.

Its quality makes it long lasting in all weather conditions. The durable steel frame design and puncture-proof tires, among other useful features, make Little Nation a much better investment, comparing to its wooden bike rivals.
